Spain’s Samuel Sanchez, who was scheduled to start the Vuelta on Saturday under the colors of BMC Racing, has been tested positive for growth hormone and temporarily suspended, the International Cycling Union (UCI) announced in a statement on Thursday.
The 2008 Olympic road champion, 2nd in the 2010 Tour de France, was checked positive in training on 9 August. He was replaced by Belgian Loïc Vliegen in BMC Racing for the Vuelta which sails Saturday of Nîmes.
